Yongnuo has officially launched their much-anticipated budget portrait lens: the 85mm f/1.8 Canon clone that you could already find floating around eBay last week.

The official announcement was made on Yongnuo’s Facebook page, where the company is also trying to get some fans with a decent following to try out/review the lens and share their thoughts. Of course, reviews are actually already live online if you’re curious how this lens compares to the Canon 85mm f/1.8 that it so closely resembles.

(Spoiler alert: it’s cheaper for a reason…)

For now, the lens is only available in Canon EF mount, but Nikon shooters probably won’t have to wait long for a version of their own. To learn more, or if you’re interested in buying this affordable portrait lens, you can already pre-order it on B&H for just $177. To put that in perspective, that’s almost $200 cheaper than the discounted Canon version.
