2015 is nearly over but there are still plenty of events, exhibitions and more to look forward to in the videogame industry. Next week will see Paris Games Week get underway in France, with fans expecting lots of news from Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) in its scheduled press conference. Before PlayStation heads to Paris, though, it’s showcasing the latest work from indie developers at the IndieCade Festival from 23rd – 25th October in Culver City, California. The company has revealed its line-up for this year’s show and it includes a PlayStation VR compatible title along with some other potential candidates.
The only title currently confirmed to support the upcoming virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4 to be on display is GNOG from the team at KO-OP. The developer has stated that it hopes to start showing the VR version of the title towards the end of the year, but this may still be a little too early for that. GNOG can also be played on standard screens and is a surreal puzzle experience in which players solve a variety of strange challenges that take place inside monster heads.
Elsewhere, SCE is bringing 2 titles that haven’t yet been confirmed to support PlayStation VR, but are already supporting the Oculus Rift HMD on PC. The first is Refract Studios’ sci-fi racer, Distance, which recently added ‘experimental‘ VR support to the pre-release version of the title on Steam. Elsewhere, popular multiplayer brawler, Gang Beasts, will also be on display. Boneloaf’s anticipated title was first confirmed to be getting Oculus Rift support back at the Oculus Connect 2 developer conference last month, and is teaming up with Esper studio Coatsink Software for integration.
PlayStation VR itself is expected to launch in the first half of 2016, though a solid release date and price are yet to be set. VRFocus will continue to follow the kit closely, reporting back with the latest updates on it.
