Oculus VR and HTC may have had new announcements and reveals for their Oculus Rift and HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) in the US this month but the newly formed Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has travelled to Taipei, Taiwan to make some reveals for its PlayStation VR kit for PlayStation 4. During a press conference this week the company announced a brand new title that’s codenamed O!My Genesis. The first trailer for the project can currently be seen below.

O!My Genesis appears to be developed by XPEC Entertainment and Bad Bird. Judging by the footage on display, the title appears to use the PlayStation Move motion controllers to allow players to become the God of a universe. Miniaturised planets appear in front of the player, which they can populate with vegetation, landscapes and wildlife with PlayStation Move acting as their pair of hands. Cutesy creatures are picked up and dragged onto planets where they seemingly meet and breed together.

It appears the title is about much more than the creation of one planet, though, as several scenes show the player juggling between planets and even placing a sun within the galaxy. Later on the player can be seen spinning a planet on its axis – much to the discomfort of its inhabitants – and even observing the trajectory of asteroids. Here it looks as if players must move their planets out of harm’s way or suffer an extinction-level event. There are very few other details about the project and if it might come West at this point in time.

PlayStation VR itself is expected to launch in the first half of 2016, though a specific date and price is yet to be set. Stay tuned to VRFocus for the latest on the HMD and all of its compatible titles.
