Last month VRFocus reported that virtual reality (VR) developer Aldin Dynamics would soon be revealing a brand new title to utilise the technology and position-tracked input. This was to be the studio’s third project following its Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) debut in Asunder: Earthbound and its Gear VR release, Twisted Realms. Today, the studio is making good on that promise with the reveal of Waltz of the Wizard, a new motion controlled title. The first trailer for the project can currently be seen below.

According to the developer, Waltz of the Wizard is an experience inspired by the likes of Harry Potter and Fantasia that will give players the feeling of having magical powers. Partially set within what looks like the keep of a castle, players will be able to combine a range of ingredients, throwing them into a cauldron to discover spells and use them. They’ll then be able to visit new areas in which the developer claims everything will be interactive. Compatible platforms are yet to be announced.

Waltz of the Wizard is an intuitive experience that serves as a great introduction to virtual reality for people of all ages,” an official description for the title reads. “It is designed ground-up for tracked VR input (also known as motion controllers), enabling players to use their own hands to interact with the virtual world. Whether to pick up objects, wield magical powers, use tools or interact with characters; Aldin seeks to utilize natural input and virtual reality to its fullest. The experience and its environment is designed to accommodate both room-scale and stationary gameplay modes.”

The trailer showcases this gameplay, with the motion controllers doubling as a user’s hands and allowing them to reach into new worlds and more.
