UK videogame development studio nDreams Ltd. were one of the partners featured in Google’s reveal of the Daydream mobile virtual reality (VR) platform at Google I/O 2016 today, with two applications for the head-mounted display (HMD) currently in development. Following that reveal, the developer has broken the silence to talk about the decision to develop for this new platform.

“I’m thrilled that nDreams is one of the first studios to support Daydream,” stated Patrick O’Luanaigh, nDreams’ CEO and Founder. “With this new platform’s announcement, it’s that much easier to envisage a time where everyone always has access to high quality mobile VR entertainment and it’s exciting to be collaborating with Google on that ambition.”

nDreams has two original titles currently in development for Daydream, each built from the ground-up specifically for Google’s new high quality mobile VR platform. Having already staked a claim in the mobile VR scene with Gunner and Perfect Beach, the studio is promising that more information about both upcoming apps with details on how they are designed to make full use of Daydream viewers and controllers will be made available closer to launch.

“Having already had great success with Perfect Beach for Google Cardboard, it’s incredibly exciting to be creating high performance experiences for Google’s new mobile VR platform,” offers Tom Gillo, nDreams’ VP of Development. “We can’t wait to share the first details about our innovative and captivating apps for Daydream in the near future.”

nDreams was one of the first videogame studios in the world to dedicate development plans solely to VR and has been working on virtual reality projects since 2013. With Gunner and Perfect Beach already available for mobile platforms, nDreams also has The Assembly due for launch on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR later this year.
