The head-mounted display (HMD) market is set to become a major industry over the next few years with the help of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). One device that definitely stands out amongst the likes of the Oculus Rift, Magic Leap, HTC Vive and HoloLens is castAR, a new AR kit that, unlike other companies, is making pricing and accessibility staples of the first generation of its consumer hardware. VRFocus recently got to speak to the company behind the kit about that upcoming release and more.

In the interview below CEO David Henkel-Wallace gives a rundown of castAR itself before talking about what the company was showing at its most recent showcase at PAX Prime 2015 back in August. He also outlines the road ahead for castAR, giving details on the anticipated developer edition of the device as well as the first hints of the consumer version.

VRFocus will continue to follow castAR closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the tech.
