ZeroTransform is an indie developer that jumped straight into virtual reality (VR) development. The company’s first project, Proton Pulse, first released for the very first development kit (DK1) for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) all the way back in 2013, and has since arrived on the Google Cardboard and Gear VR mobile platforms. The developer also has other projects such as Pulsar Arena and Vanguard V in the works. Recently, the studio has also confirmed that it is working on an updated version of Proton Pulse named Proton Pulse Zero.

Justin Moravetz, CEO and Founder of ZeroTransform, revealed the new project in an interview with VRFocus that will be published in full later this week. “Its funny you mention that,” Moravetz noted when asked if the developer might create new Proton Pulse content in the future. “We are nearing completion of Proton Pulse Plus for PC VR. It uses hand tracking, features improved visuals, and delivers a much more dynamic sounding game. Can’t wait to show it off!” The developer didn’t note any specific platforms that the title would be appearing on.

Proton Pulse is a VR take on the arcade brick-breaking genre in which players use the given HMD’s head-tracking technology to move a paddle and keep an energy ball known as a Proton in the air, gradually breaking away at the core of an evil entity known as M.O.A.I.. The title features over 50 levels in which players can use a ‘Space-Time Dilator’ to slow down the action and give them more control. It appears that the new version of the videogame could swap out that head-tracked control for hand-tracked input, then.

Moravetz also offered comment on Vanguard V, noting: “As for Vanguard V, we’re always in development of this title. It is a larger scale game so much of the art is delegated to trusted people. I then bring it all together when the time is right. There is so much to share in the near future on this title.”

For more from Moravetz and ZeroTransform’s upcoming projects, check back with VRFocus later in the week.
