Virtual reality (VR) fans may well have caught a glimpse of VRLympix over the past year or so. The proposed collection of minigames for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) was set to offer unique takes on a wide range of sports, and had been popping up at events, development jams and more. Now, however, developer VRUnicorns is making a more fleshed out version of one of the best-looking games from the collection, known as #SelfieTennis. Recently, the studio has released a teaser trailer for this experience, which can now be seen below.

The animated trailer – first seen on the title’s official website – shows two unicorns sitting together in a polluted landscape. Two VR HMDs appear out of nowhere, and both put them on and start playing tennis. Rather than playing together, however, both enter their own worlds and play by themselves, bouncing their balls on their rackets and enjoying much more pleasant scenery. It’s at this point the slogan ‘It’s OK to play with yourself’ appears, giving you some idea of the tone of the experience.

As the trailer suggests #SelfieTennis, gets players to face themselves in tennis matches. When they return the ball, the player will switch over to the other side to meet it. The HTC Vive’s position-tracked controllers are used to control the racket. The experience will be on display this week at Unity’s 2016 Vision Summit.
