Yesterday VRFocus reported on VRGO, a tilting chair designed for players to move in virtual reality (VR) launching a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign. To add to the promotion designer Joe Ryan will be taking his product to next weeks VRTGO event in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, which organisers revealed on Twitter.
The VRGO chair has been designed so that small movements in terms of twisting your body to a new direction can represent greater movements within the given VR experience. This should in turn help reduce tangling wires with head-mounted displays (HMDs) such as the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Ryan has also claimed that this form of movement helps to reduce simulator sickness within videogames.
So far the campaign has managed to raise £12,167 GBP towards its £20,000 USD after only 24 hours with 29 days left to go. The team hasn’t yet mentioned if it plans any stretch goals should it surpass its main funding target.
VTRGO, a UK-based VR expo and conference that is taking place on 12th November 2015, is set to see a number of VR studios, companies, figureheads and more gather under one roof to talk about the upcoming tech. The event will feature speakers from CCP Games, nDreams, PlayStation VR, Unity and many more.
