The Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) will see one of its first big titles launch next week. Ustwo Games, the team behind celebrated mobile puzzler Monument Valley, will be releasing its first-person experience, Land’s End, on 30th October after first announcing it all the way back in September 2014. It’s been a long road for this picturesque videogame, then, and VRFocus recently got to speak with Ustwo Games itself about the journey it’s taken.

In the first of 2 interviews (look out for a more general conversation on mobile VR early next week), Technical Director Peter Pashley talks with us about the development of Land’s End. He touches upon the title’s central mechanics, such as its comfortable navigation, hands-free controls and puzzles that feel similar to their previous work in terms of challenge.

VRFocus got to try Land’s End for itself and found a lot of promise in its tranquillity. Check back next week for the second part of the interview with Pashley.
