The San Diego Comic-Con 2016 has begun today and Digital Domain Holdings Limited, parent company of the award winning visual effects house Digital Domain has announced alongside Syfy Network a virtual reality (VR) experience for forthcoming science fiction TV series Incorporated.

Called Welcome to the Quiet Room, visitors to the show this week will be able to don a HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) at the Incorporated Cafe at Maryjane’s, inside the Hard Rock Hotel and experience an early look at characters and settings before Incorporated debuts this Fall on Syfy.

“Science fiction entertainment like this is perfect for the VR treatment, offering viewers the chance to get up close and personal with characters from ‘Incorporated’ before its debut,” said Rich Flier, Managing Director, Business Development, Digital Domain Holdings Limited. “We’re proud to partner with Syfy once again, after unveiling ‘The Expanse’ VR experience at Comic-Con last year.”

“Breaking new ground, this piece is the most realistic live action POV VR experience we’ve ever produced,” said Aruna Inversin, VR Supervisor, Digital Domain. “Moving beyond mere 360° video, ‘Incorporated’ allows viewers to feel like they’re physically present in the room with the actors thanks to a combination of user head tracking, interactive avatar movement and advanced spatial reconstruction.”

Inspired by the show’s debut trailer, Welcome to the Quiet Room recreates one crucial part from Incorporated. A so-called quiet room where viewers will be taken and interrogated by Julian Morse (played by Dennis Haysbert), the Head of Security at the Spiga Corporation’s US Headquarters.

And for those unable to attend San Diego Comic-Con 2016 the Incorporated VR experience will launch online and in app form later this year.
