The wait for details on the release of the PlayStation VR virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4 is becoming agonising, but it shouldn’t be too much longer now before new information is revealed. Creator Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will be hosting a new event for the kit next week at the 2016 Game Developers Conference (GDC) and Virtual Reality Developers Conference (VRDC) in San Francisco, California. Ahead of that event, SCE has now set up an official forum for fans to go and talk about the long-anticipated device.

The official PlayStation VR forums now sport a new PlayStation VR section, set up this week and already incorporating old threads that mention the device. In a thread announcing the new board, SCE Community Manager, Envisager, wrote: “I’m sure you are as excited as we are for the release of PlayStation VR, so we have given you a brand new home for all of your PlayStation VR discussions and debates!” Threads are already busy discussing what will be announced next week and looking at upcoming titles such as Crytek’s Robinson: The Journey.

It’s not clear what the company will have to say about the device at the show on 15th March, though it’s hoped that it will finally announce both the price and full release date for the kit, which has previously been promised to launch in the first half of this year. Its two main rivals, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, already have prices set at $599 USD and $799 respectively, though it’s expected that PlayStation VR will be cheaper than both. The Oculus Rift will start to ship on 28th March 2016, which the HTC Vive will do the same on 5th April.
