Earlier this summer the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) revealed some impressive virtual reality (VR) projects and titles, and it was announced that Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope was to grace out head-mounted displays (HMD) this summer as a Steam Early Access title for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It is all materialising now as it has appeared on Steam.

In a post by Croteam, it is perfectly outlined what exactly to expect: “Sam returns in his first ever VR adventure to dual wield an overwhelming amount of explosive ordinance and battle Mental’s relentless hordes. The Earth Defense Force is crumbling under the crushing offensive of Mental and his legions of savage warriors and beasts. Now the galaxy’s last hope must battle from planet to planet – piling up and upgrading his arsenal along the way – and lay waste to massive alien swarms under Mental’s control… All in first-person, all in virtual reality!”

In this current Early Access state, Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope has a fair few features, including a selection of missions, over 2 planets with multiple levels and two different bosses, many guns, hordes of enemies, and power-ups and upgrades.

There is still a whole host of features yet to be added for the final version, which are: more planets, enemies, weapons, bosses, and power-ups; shielding ability; a new difficulty mode; and an introduction of a skill tree.

The price hasn’t been shared just yet, but when the full version comes there will be an expected price rise. Now that it has appeared, and summer is coming to a close, it is a sure thing that a date and price shall be revealed soon.

VRFocus will make sure to keep up to date with the much anticipated title. Until then, make sure to check back for the latest news, updates, and features in the world of VR.
