360 degree media has huge potential going forward, though there are areas in which major breakthroughs are needed before it can become as compelling as the 3D, computer generated content found in videogames and other experiences. No one knows this better than REWIND, a UK-based studio working on a range of virtual reality (VR) projects. Recently the company shot a brand new interview with the help of AMD, discussing the pros and cons of 360 degree technology. That interview can now be seen below and is, of course, in 360 degrees itself.

In the video below REWIND Founder and MD Sol Rogers and former Senior Manager of Autodesk Shawn Hendriks talk a bit about the ups and downs of working with 360 degree technology, showcasing how it can be used to take full advantage of an environment. They look at transitioning between scenes and editing shots as well as discussing where the platform will go in the future. There’s also some talk of some of the projects that REWIND has been working on with these new technologies.

This is far from all that REWIND is working on in VR. The company is also developing a full VR videogame in Pane in the Glass, which is on its way to the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). For the latest on the studio, keep reading VRFocus.
