World War Toons has been in development for both Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR for some time, shown publicly on both head-mounted displays (HMDs) on a number of occasions. Most recently developer Reload Studios has been showcasing the title on PlayStation VR at events such as PlayStation Experience, San Francisco, last December, and it seems that the studio is set to take their release date cues from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).

World War Toons is a first-person shooter (FPS) designed specifically for VR. A team-based experience, the videogame places players in a cartoon world and has them face-off against one another in brutal WWII inspired combat. A number of different player classes are available and each also has the opportunity to transform into a tank on-the-fly with the press of a single button.

The official release date for the PlayStation VR HMD was announced by SIE at a pre-Game Developers Conference (GDC) media briefing in San Francisco yesterday. Following this announcement, James Chung, Founder of Reload Studios, teased via Twitter that World War Toons might well be launching alongside the device.

VRFocus has contacted Reload Studios for further information on World War Toons‘ release and will keep you updated with all the latest details.
