Earlier today Sony took to the stage during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) to announce the official date of launch for the virtual reality (VR) console-based head-mounted display (HMD), the PlayStation VR, as well as the announcement of titles for it. It has now come out that Batman Arkham VR and Final Fantasy XV are both only available using the PlayStation Move controllers rather than the standard one.

This latest news came from the horse’s mouth as PlayStation spoke to VRFocus after the conference to confirm that both Final Fantasy XV and Batman Arkham VR are exclusive just to PlayStation Move. What this means for the titles is that if the player only had the PlayStation Dualshock 4 controller they wouldn’t be able to play either of the announced VR videogames, whereas if they had a pair of PlayStation Move motion controllers it would not be a problem at all to play.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) released pre-orders for the HMD as bundles without the choice to buy just the kit without controllers or accessories. This proves to be a great chance to purchase exactly what is needed for a videogame in one. In the US there were bundles that included the move controllers, but they had all sold out. However there is still hope as there will be another wave of pre-orders to come this summer.

VRFocus spoke to a developer from Rocksteady where they shared more about the concept and content of the Batman Arkham VR videogame: “Concentrates on the detective aspect of the Arkham games. People always loved the combat but of course that wouldn’t work in VR, so we explored what other opportunities there were; what would really make you feel like Batman.”

There will be more to come from both of these titles so make sure to check back with VRFocus for the latest at E3, as well as all news and updates in the world of VR.
