CCP Games announced at EVE fanfest in April that its virtual reality (VR) videogame EVE: Valkyrie would be getting a brand new game mode called Carrier Assault. This week at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles we were treated to a trailer for Carrier Assault as well as the the news that the new game mode would be added free to the existing framework of EVE: Valkyrie as part of the game’s first major update on June 20th 2016.

Now we have more news as CCP Games has released new artwork for the game mode that shows off what appears to be a carrier assault mission in progress with one of the videogame’s huge carrier ships silhouetted against a moon with several smaller ships swooping around it to mount an attack.

As well as artwork, CCP Games wrapped up this year’s E3 by tweeting some brand new screenshots from the update, too:

In Carrier Assault players will be able to target carrier ships with their teams for the first time, a challenge that will involve overcoming their complicated defence systems, sure to be a difficult challenge. In its announcement of the update release, CCP said:”In Carrier Assault we are delivering that hallowed trench run moment that has been etched into the minds of many a Sci-Fi fan. The video footage might look exciting, but nothing gets the pulse going like flying into the belly of the beast for the first time in VR.”
