At the beginning of the year VRFocus reported on the reveal of Dead Secret, a new narrative-driven first-person experience for the Gear VR virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). Indie developer Robot Invader, which includes Chris Pruett of Oculus VR’s Developer Relations team, even spoke about the title at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March. Today the videogame has been confirmed for an entirely new platform, Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE’s) PlayStation VR HMD for PlayStation 4.

The news was recently confirmed on the PlayStation Blog, with an announcement trailer also seen below. Dead Secret tasks players with solving the murder of Harris Bullard, described as a ‘reclusive man’ that was found dead in the study of his large house five days before the title begins. Taking on the role of an ‘ambitious journalist’, players will explore Bullard’s home, inspecting the crime scene and deciphering clues in an attempt to find the killer. Pruett along co-founder Casey Richardson were inspired by classic horror titles such as Clock Tower and Siren when working on the project.

“Casey and I have been thinking and writing about scary game design for over a decade,” Pruett said of the news. “Dead Secret is focused on mystery, but we made sure that there’s a hefty dose of dread in there too.” According to the developer the title is a ‘love letter’ to its inspirations.  “It’s a game anybody can play and enjoy, but I hope that fans of the genre will be particularly delighted,” he added.

Dead Secret will actually be coming to both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in January 2016, with PlayStation VR support arriving for the latter later on in the year. It’s not yet clear if the title is still set to arrive on Gear VR, nor if it could come to PC with support for the likes of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

VRFocus will continue to follow Dead Secret, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
