Rollercoasters are usually synonymous with thrill and excitement, and there have been a fair few making their way over to the virtual world, but in one of the latest releases for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD), Ghost Train VR, there is a different kind of vibe to the fun.

Get taken through an eerie forest full of unknown dangers in Ghost Train VR, and there is even a taste of what kinds of frights you’ll come across in the trailer featured on the main Steam store page where it launched. There isn’t too much information as there isn’t much else to be said, or much more to be revealed without ruining the surprises that lie ahead on the tracks towards the frights that you can expect. “Ghost Train VR going to allow you to find the shivering sensations of a real ghost train, as if you were there, you will find the same sensations as those of the ghost train in theme park with the cold sweat that go with it.”

Ghost Train VR is, as you would expect of a rollercoaster title, a seated experience, only for the HTC Vive HMD. There is use of the tracked motion controllers, but there doesn’t seem to be much point as this is a purely passive experience where the user is taken through the entirty of the experience with little or no way of interacting with their surroundings. Especially not the massive spider that appears to scream at you, if spiders scream.

The title is currently discounted at £2.09 (GBP), 25% less than the original price tag of £2.79, and this special pro11motion will end in just under a week on 12th July.
