Following the revelation that the virtual reality (VR) supported edition of DiRT Rally would be arriving later this month, courtesy of NVIDIA, developer Codemasters has confirmed the release date for the title on both Steam and Oculus Home. Furthermore, the finer details of the free VR update for existing owners has been revealed.
Codemasters has been a keen supporter of VR for some time, adding experimental VR support to a number of their titles, including GRID Autosport. The first release to offer official support for the Oculus Rift was last year’s well received Toybox Turbos.
“As you’d expect with VR, the update will immerse players into the world of rally like never before – with the challenge of DiRT Rally taking on a whole new dimension. You’ll be absorbed even further into the game as you take on some of the most challenging real life rally locations in the world, battling the elements in glorious VR,” reads Codemasters’ official blog. “So when’s it arriving, we hear you ask? DiRT Rally VR will release with the Oculus Store on 11th July, while existing PC players will receive an update on the same day too.”
