There’s now less than a month to go before the official launches of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs), dated at 28th March and 5th April respectively. Even with the hardware becoming available, the headsets will need some good software to support them both. Oculus VR and HTC have secured a decent line up of titles to be available on day one, and now developer Lightning Rock has added its virtual reality (VR) offering, Marble Mountain to the Vive’s launch roster.

Marble Mountain will be downloadable on 5th April for the HTC Vive headset, but the videogame will also support the Oculus Rift as well as none VR players using a standard screen on PC, Mac and Linux

The title is a challenging puzzle platformer in the same vein as classic videogames like Marble Madness or Super Monkey Ball. Players will have to balance, roll and puzzle their way through an assortment of 25 grassland, snow, lava, desert and forest levels, all while avoiding obstacles such as avalanches, Mettalan cubes, evil skulls, trapdoors and more.

Marble Mountain‘s almost universal appeal becomes immediately recognizable the moment you pick up the controller,” said Shannon Pickles, producer, Lightning Rock in a statement. “At game conventions around the world the platformer adventures bring smiles to every players’ face, whether they are enjoying the classic PC and monitor experience or cutting-edge VR.”

Marble Mountain will retail on Steam for $9.99 USD. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Lightning Rock, reporting back with any new announcements.
