Another day, another 360 degree video and we’re off to Canada for this one. Quite often on VRFocus we’ve reported how various sports have begun the adoption of virtual reality (VR) technologies for both broadcast and training purposes. Be it basketball and the NBA or NCAA, the NFL and college American Football teams, golf, football and the NHL for ice hockey. It’s there we find ourselves today with an example of 360 degree video being used to put you in the action.
The Calgary Flames recently took a camera on to the ice in order to capture one of their training sessions. Naturally the action is fast and furious as various drills occur on all sides before the team gathers around the camera.
Interestingly the Flames did a follow-up with their Flames TV video channel as they tried out the final product, put together by Mammoth VR. All first time users of VR they seem particularly impressed by the Gear VR technology.
