One of the most intriguing and mysterious titles to be revealed at last weekend’s PlayStation Experience fan event was Golem from indie developer Highwire Games. It may have had some stiff competition stacked up next to the likes of 100FT Robot Golf and Rez Infinite, but this fantastical title stood out thanks to an exciting trailer that raised tons of questions. Some of those questions have now been addressed in a new PlayStation Conversation video from Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), which can currently be seen below.

In this three-minute video viewers hear from Highwire Games’ Jaime Griesemer, who talks about how the developer got started. Griesemer himself is an industry veteran with experience working on the Halo franchise for Microsoft as well as the Infamous series over at SCE, only recently forming this new team. The team’s Jared Noftle also explains exactly why it’s working in VR. Golem itself is also touched upon, with Griesemer looking at the central mechanic in which players can create and control gigantic stone golems that explore an ancient city.

The video also devotes a good amount of time to composer Marty O’Donnell, looking at his work in creating Golem‘s score. In terms of footage, there are plenty of shots of SCE’s motion controller, PlayStation Move, suggesting that the title will be utilising the device. Griesemer concludes by explaining he is excited by the fact that Golem is a true VR videogame and hopes that it will ‘set a high bar’ for the PlayStation VR going forward.

It’s not yet clear when Golem will be launching, though PlayStation VR itself isn’t expected to hit until the first half of 2016. A specific price and launch date are yet to be announced. VRFocus will continue to follow the title closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
