A new virtual reality (VR) attraction is currently in development for Disney’s upcoming Star Wars expansion at Walt Disney Resorts, according to Han Solo actor Harrison Ford. The VR ride will allow users to pilot the Millennium Falcon in a battle with the First Order, the antagonists of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Revealed during a teaser video on ABC’s Disneyland 60, Ford enthused: “Imagine stepping aboard the Millennium Falcon and actually piloting the fastest ship in the galaxy, banking left, right, firing the laser cannons, you’re in complete control.”

The new seen Star Wars experiences are scheduled to land later this year at Walt Disney Resort parks in Florida and California and is the largest land expansion in Disney’s history. A smaller Star Wars themed area is also in development in Shanghai, but its not yet been confirmed whether the VR experiences will be a part of this location’s activities. “Imagine finding yourself in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order in a race against time,” continued Ford. “You’ve watched the saga, now enter these authentic locales with your every sense engaged. You’re meeting droids and aliens, entering otherworldly street markets, actually tasting the local delicacies, and going upscale at the planet’s best dinner club, or for the truly adventurous, heading down to the local cantina.”

A further Star Wars experience will include alien and droid encounters, as well as vendors selling space-themed foods in a completely immersive world. The Star Wars themed expansions are expected to open later this year, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on the included VR experiences.
