There’s been two videogames released this week on Oculus Home for the Oculus Rift. One needs no introduction, its nDreams’ first major release on the platform, the long awaited The Assembly which has featured a fair amount of press coverage. The other comes from Khora ApS with Cityscape Repairman 2.0, a puzzle title that originally released on the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD).
As the name suggests Cityscape Repairman 2.0 isn’t just a straight port from the Gear VR on to the Oculus Rift, its been tweaked to make use of the extra power available. One of the biggest changes is the amount of content on offer, the Gear VR version had 13 puzzles to solve, while Cityscape Repairman 2.0 now features and extra five levels for players to work through.
And it’s all about work. Cityscape Repairman 2.0 is a puzzle solver that revolves around mending the city you live in. As a repairman those duty is to keep the city running through regular maintenance and fixing problems, players must traverse the harsh cityscape and keep the wheels of industry working. And just like any other puzzle videogame this involves completing each of the increasingly difficult puzzles put before players. To add to the challenge players must complete the task as quickly as possible in order to make it to the top 10 leaderboard for each puzzle.
Originally the first Cityscape Repairman appeared as a finalist in an Oculus mobile VR jam, entered by Peter Fisher, a 3D VR artist. Fisher then went on to join Khora ApS where the title continued development.
