Earlier this month saw indie developer Robot Invader launch its very first virtual reality (VR) title in Dead Secret, a murder mystery experience for the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD). An engaging story, intriguing puzzles and immersive environment earned the videogame one of VRFocus‘ first five star reviews and it seems that the wider VR community has had a similarly enthusiastic response to it. In fact, Robot Invader itself has stated that it’s seen a ‘universally positive’ response to the experience, and is planning more VR content in the future.

The developer’s Gregory Love said as much to VRFocus in an interview that will be published in full later on in the week. “The reaction has been universally positive,” Love said of what the title has be received. “We have been working on Dead Secret for so long that it was hard for us to guess what the reaction would be like, but it’s been much better than we imagined.” When later asked if the team has plans to create more VR titles, the developer replied: “We sure do! No details to share yet, but please feel free to get excited in anticipation.”

Dead Secret casts players as a journalist that’s tasked with solving the murder of a reclusive man known as Harris Bullard, who was killed in his own home. Bullard’s demise isn’t being investigated by the police, though players will find themselves in his house five days after the incident, finding out more about him and why he was killed. Inspired by classic horror titles such as Clock Tower and Siren, the title will see players inspecting the crime scene, deciphering clues and uncovering other secrets found throughout the house.

The title is also due to arrive on both PC and PlayStation 4 in early 2016, with support for the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR HMDs expected to be integrated later down the line. VRFocus will continue to follow Dead Secret closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
