It wouldn’t necessarily be right to say that they are going to be the first music act to create a 360 or virtual reality (VR) music video, but there hasn’t been an act quite as big. Biffy Clyro, who recently released their latest album Ellipses,
The immersive music video, in connection with Samsung, will be a big one, with three and a half storeys worth of studio that will be touring UK festivals along with the Bubbles and The Captain band, and it will be a live performance of them performing Flammable.
As reported by NME, Samsung’s Ross Cairn talked of the collaboration with Biffy Clyro, saying: “This project was born out of a desire to bring the best parts of live music to an audience so people can feel closer to the band than ever before. Biffy were the perfect partners for this.”
Simon Neil then went on to add: “”We’ve worked with Ross before and knew he was the right person to capture us live and we’ve always wanted to get involved in VR so we’re really pleased to Samsung have given us this opportunity. It’s great to create such an amazing experience for our fans – the result is awesome.”
The festivals that attendees can experience this immersive experience at are Boardmasters Festival in Newcastle and Cornwall from 10th – 14th August, Glasgow Summer Sessions from 26th – 27th August, and Bestival down in the Isle of Wight During 8th – 11th September.
