Today sees the pre-order launch for the Oculus Ready PCs bundles going live, where various rigs from select hardware manufacturers that meet the recommended specs of and include a discount voucher for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). These bundles start from $1499 USD, and Best Buy, one of the largest retailers in the US, has all the available options listed. But what is interesting is the company’s expected release date.

On Best Buy’s information page the retailer lists the expected release date as 23rd April 2016, potentially suggesting the stock of the Oculus Rift HMD may have been specifically set aside for retailers and these bundles. Where this to be the case, it may come to the annoyance of those who pre-ordered just the headset in January yet have to wait until May or June for their orders to arrive. It is worth noting that the ‘date is subject to change by the manufacturer’, so depending on demand that date may slip.

Shipping for the Oculus Rift itself will begin taking place on 28th March 2016. Anyone who has pre-ordered will also get a copy of EVE: ValkyrieLucky’s Tale and an Xbox One controller. The PC bundles will also be available through both Amazon and the Microsoft Store.

VRFocus will continue to bring you the latest details on Oculus Rift as details are announced.
