Since the release of ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam Early Access in May last year Studio Wildcard has released an impressive amount of updates for the title. New dinosaurs, items and more have been added once or twice a month, and January is no different. The developer unveiled the Procoptodon, a giant Kangaroo early into the new year and now its latest update has arrived. With it comes the Gallimimus and several new items.
The Gallimimus is a fast running herbivore, possibly the fastest dinosaur in the videogame and is capable of transporting up to three Survivors in a specially-designed Saddle. The dinosaur does have other advantages as well as disadvantages. Due to its speed and carrying ability it’s among the best for scouting and exploring or making a quick getaway, along with jumping long distances. The downside is its inability to harm predators or to harvest resources whilst also being extremely skittish.
Else where the update adds a new SWAT-style Assault Armour tier, an Electric Prod stunner weapon and Greenhouse/Glass tileset with plant-growing benefits. Improvements to the include, improved save-game save-and-load times and added new special name tags and custom hat skins for: Wildcard Admin Team, Wildcard Non-Admin Team, Authorized External Testers, and Dev Kit Masters.
The pre-release version of ARK: Survival Evolved already supports the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC, and there are plans to integrate the HTC Vive HMD and, when the PlayStation 4 version launches, the PlayStation VR device.
