Earlier in the week VRFocus reported on the news that Studio Wildcard’s virtual reality (VR) compatible role-playing game (RPG), ARK: Survival Evolved, has added new features including dinosaur breeding. As a result, baby dinosaurs are also now a part of the experience, allowing players to selectively raise beasts with stronger traits and stats over time. Now a new video of the experience has arrived, showcasing this feature along with the debut of a brand new dinosaur, the Mosasaurus.

The new beast is a gigantic aquatic creature, capable of carrying huge battle platforms both along the surface and deep underwater. The video shows players using this to get the drop on a snowy enemy settlement, swimming past the main defences and using turrets mounted on the beast’s back to attack. Towards the very end of the clip a short teaser can also be seen, showcasing the birth of a baby Triceratops.

ARK: Survival Evolved is an online, first-person in which players can build their own settlements, create better equipment and even tame dinosaurs, using them for transportation and more. The Early Access version of the title already supports the Oculus Rift head-mounted display’s (HMD’s) second development kit (DK2), although Studio Wildcard will also be bringing support for the PlayStation VR HMD on PlayStation 4 when this version of the title launches in June 2016. HTC Vive support on PC is also being considered, and the title is also on its way to the Xbox One console.

VRFocus will continue to follow ARK: Survival Evolved closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
