A group of intrepid explorers have documented the summit of Mount Everest using a 360 degree camera.

The milestone in virtual mountaineering saw four Nepalese guides become the first men in the world to document the whole south route to the summit of Everest using a special surround-view rig.

A backpack strapped to the climbers carried the camera system consisting of a cube of six GoPro camera set to record pictures and video at regular intervals.

Experienced mountain climbers Lakpa Sherpa, Pemba Rinji Sherpa, Kusang Sherpa and Ang Kaji Sherpa, completed the trek to the summit at 8848 meters of altitiude.
