Windlands’ Early Access Release Dated, Full Launch Window Revealed

Psytec Games is set to have a busy 2016. Along with the full of launch of its first official virtual reality (VR) title in Crystal Rift, the developer will also be continuing to work on Windlands, the first-person VR adventure that it announced it would be publishing late last year. Towards the end of 2015 the company sent out Steam keys to those that backed the title’s IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign, giving them a first look at the Early Access version of the title before a wider release later this year. Now Psytec Games has also dated the launch of the Early Access version for everyone.

Fans will be able to get their hands on Windlands on 8th January 2016, as revealed on the title’s official Steam page. On top of that, the Q&A section for the Early Access build reveals that Psytec Games plans to release the full version of the project within six months at the very latest. The pre-release edition features a tutorial level along with a main hub and the first world to explore, with later levels and challenges being added on in the future. The price of the title is expected to be the same throughout Early Access and into the full launch.

Windlands is a first-person experience that’s on its way to both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs). The colourful videogame gives players control of two grappling hooks that allow them to freely swing through areas, either using a standard gamepad or with the aid of each kit’s respective motion controllers. Players will then navigate vast areas, gathering collectibles and beating speed runs and time trials among other types of challenges. It’s not yet clear if it could also arrive on the PlayStation VR HMD for PlayStation 4 later down the line.
