The team behind the Virtual Reality Los Angeles (VRLA) event are currently busy planning the summer expo, due to take place on 5th and 6th August 2016. But that’s not all that the organisation will be hosting for the VR community in the coming weeks and months. This week the group has announced a brand new panel that will be held as part of its VRLA School initiative. The panel is set to take place at the end of this month on 30th April and will be focused on ‘VR in 100 Years’.
A limited number of tickets will be going on sale for the event at 10:00 PT today. It’s set to take a look at the potential implications that the arrival of VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) will have on the world, exploring ‘societal shifts’, relationships with artificial intelligence and more. Speakers include Brett Leonard, the director of The Lawnmower Man, a movie that many in the VR community will fondly recall. Leonard will be joined by Survios CEO James Iliff and Oscar winning visual effects pioneer Kevin Mack.
The event will kick off at 14:30 at Village Workspaces in Los Angeles. The panel will last for around an hour followed by a Q&A session before an hour of networking.
