The Samsung Gear VR is one of the most commercialised and well-known mobile-based head-mounted displays (HMD), and and now Uber in Romania has decided that it is a fantastic means to passing time in the car while stuck in traffic.

Those in Bucharest who use the uber app to get around now have a reportedly one in ten chance to get into a car with the Samsung Gear VR inside. For new users, they will be able to enter the code UberGearVR so that they can have a free ride worth RON 25 once they have created a new Uber account.

The Head of Product Management Telecom Division at Samsung Electronics in Romania, Alexandru Costache, very much approves of both the HMDs popularity and the spread of it to Uber users: “Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have been adopted very fast by our users and through their connection with the Samsung Gear VR device they are having an even more captivating experience. We are glad to offer them and their Uber users this experience now, that can test the virtual reality when they are on the road towards a meeting or the job, in order to value more the time spent on traffic.”

This campaign has been going on for the past few days, and tomorrow is the last day they can enjoy the experience of ordering an UberX or signing up with the code to try out the new tech.
