The past week has shown that rumoured leaks can be pretty accurate with the news of the latest Samsung Gear VR being more or less what we expected it to be. So, with that in mind, could these latest leaks of Google’s Daydream be just as accurate? Let’s take a little look at it.

The word on the street is that images of the head-mounted display (HMD), which was revealed during Google’s I/O only in diagram form, is going to be released either later today or tomorrow, but according to a thread on VRTalk’s forums, one Twitter account has already jumped the gun and shared what it looks like – and there are a couple things that are a little strange about it.

As we look at the alleged HMD, it is the usual shape, typical dark greyish colour that most go for, but it is clear that it isn’t completely either put together or developed aesthetically as we cannot see any straps – at least not from this angle. The main point to look at is the use of two zips that would assumedly close the casing for the Daydream ready phones. This is a pretty interesting take, as all other mobile-based HMDs take on the aesthetic of the Samsung Gear VR. If this is real, could this really be the best way to encase the phone?

This is just what we can go on from the forum post, as the Twitter account is protected and doesn’t publically show tweets. Either way, it can only be hoped that this is an unfinished prototype of what it will finally look like.

VRFocus will keep on top of the latest that will emerge as more pictures are revealed of Google’s Daydream HMD, but until then make sure to check back for all the news, updates, and features in the world of VR.
