Cloudhead Games’ anticipated virtual reality (VR) episodic videogame series, The Gallery, is aiming to make full use of immersive VR systems. The developer is going all out in its support for the HTC Vive and SteamVR, for example, offering full Room Scale user tracking support, combined with its Blink locomotion solution in which players can essentially teleport themselves around an environment. The Gallery is also heading to the Oculus Rift with full support for the company’s position-tracked controller, Oculus Touch. In fact, Cloudhead Games is planning for The Gallery to be a launch title for the device.

The developer recently stated as much in a thread over on the Oculus VR Subreddit. When asked how the title was progressing, the developer simply stated: “The Gallery will be available on the Vive, and Oculus Touch for launch.” It’s not surprising to hear that the title will be available at the launch of the HTC Vive, as it’s been showcased running on the hardware many times before, but fans weren’t expecting to see the Oculus Rift version of the title for some time. As it turns out, Oculus Touch is launching in the same quarter as the HTC Vive’s April 2016 release.

Cloudhead Games is almost certainly only referring to the first episode of its series here, titled The Gallery: Call of the Starseed. This first-person adventure experience in which players will go in search of their missing sister, Elsie, undertaking a journey in which they will meet new characters and get to use the respective position-tracked controllers in a variety of ways. It’s not yet clear when the following episodes will be released, though Cloudhead Games is also planning to release the title on the PlayStation VR HMD for PlayStation 4, which arrives in H1 2016.
