It doesn’t seem that long ago that the 2016 Game Developers Conference (GDC) open its doors, with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive so close to release and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) revealing pre-orders and a price for the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD). But it was over three months ago and quite a lot has happened since then in the world of virtual reality (VR). Now UBM Tech Game Network, the organiser of GDC has opened submissions for next years event, for developers and manufacturers to secure their place.

GDC 2017 will begin earlier than the 2016 event, taking place from Monday, 27th February to Friday, 3rd March, 2017 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California.

Submissions for GDC 2017 aren’t open for long, closing on 18th August. For those interested in submitting to the 2017 GDC Summits program which includes the Virtual Reality Developers Conference (VRDC) and Game Career Seminar, submission dates are slightly later, beginning 29th August through to September 23rd.

The GDC Advisory Board is focused on improving the quality of the talks presented at the conference and the call for submissions page extensively lists how speakers should go about submitting proposals and presenting a talk. For the 2017 event submissions are being accepted across seven tracks: Advocacy; Audio; Business, Marketing & Management; Design; Production; Programming and Visual Arts.

If you’re interested in holding a talk at GDC 2017, and for all the submission details head to the official website.

VRFocus has been to the last few conferences and will do so again next year, so stay tuned for all the latest VR news and announcements.
