SteamVR Beta Receives New Update

Valve’s SteamVR has received a new update to a number of its features today. Still classified as a beta testing phase, SteamVR’s Desktop Game Theater, Keyboard and Dashboard functions have all received a varied amount of improvements.

The Desktop Game Theater is a mode in which all videogames can be played in virtual reality (VR), via virtual theatre screen. This update improves the visual quality of that screen, as well as adding gaze-based controls to adjust its size and realign the image in case of drift. The keyboard support now correctly follows your desktop PC’s locale setting, while the Dashboard features more settings to customise play area, colour and opacity.

SteamVR currently offers support for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, though Valve have not yet ruled out allowing additional head-mounted displays to be added to the selection. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on SteamVR.
