There was a lot of gossip and general Chinese whispers about the official launch of the virtual reality (VR) Star Wars title, Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine, including it appearing on the Steam Database, but apart from that there wasn’t much information shared about the actual release. Now, it has been officially announced that the title will be heading over to Steam in two days following the Star Wars Celebration Europe event.

This weekend in London has seen the Star Wars Celebration for Europe (SWCE) this year, with the title being on demonstration for attendees to have a go on as previously reported. Now it has been announced at the event, and in turn on Twitter by both the HTC Vive team and ILMxLAB, shortly after the SWCE panel was announced.

Throughout the day we have seen many tweets that have led up to this point, showing much momentum being built up for the title. The demo of Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine lets the player experience repairing the Millennium Falcon, and once the repair is finished R2-D2 makes an appearance. This is when a battle begins and the player has the chance to weild the lightsaber to defend against Stormtroopers.

Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine will appear on Steam on Monday 18th July, although there is not a specific time set for it yet, and it has also been announced that the title will be free. The title will also only be available for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD).
