Less than a month ago VRFocus reported on the first alpha footage of Spellbound, a fantasy spell-casting adventure, built from the ground up for virtual reality (VR). The title supports the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) and the Leap Motion gesture control device. Now the indie development team based out of Seattle, Washington, has revealed a gameplay reactions video of players trying the videogame for the first time.

The dev team invited a few friends round to try their first VR title, which mixes traditional gameplay mechanics on controller with the ability to throw magic spells at enemies, thanks to the Leap Motion device attached to the Oculus Rift. The Leap Motion unit is optional, Spellbound can be entirely controlled with Xbox One controller that’ll come with the headset.

The area and enemies the players encounter mirror that of the previous video, set in a seemingly deserted, spooky looking graveyard at night. Spellbound’s back story is about a wizard who has been dabbling with dark magic to bring his wife back from the dead, he realises his spell has gone awry. While it worked, bringing his wife back to life, it also had the unforeseen effect of resurrecting all the dead creatures that inhabit the graveyard.

Spellbound is due to be released in Spring 2016 for Oculus Rift, with the team planning to add support for Oculus Touch and HTC Vive in the future. VRFocus will continue to follow the latest updates on Spellbound, reporting back any further announcements.
