The last few months has seen Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) dominate at shows like the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) when it comes to virtual reality (VR). With its PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) due out in October 2016, the company has had plenty of news to share for the sole console-based headset. And coming later this month is a press conference focusing on the PlayStation VR which could include new software announcements.

The press conference will be held in Hong Kong on Thursday, 28th July, prior to the Animation Comic Game Hong Kong 2016 (ACGHK) convention taking place the next day. The details were revealed by industry analyst ZhugeEX via Twitter who also noted Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong (SIEHK) would be attending the convention as well.

As for the convention itself SIE has confirmed what it might be showcasing, but it will give gamers a chance for a hands-on with the PlayStation VR headset. If there are any videogames revealed at the show there’s a good possibility they might be localised for the Asian market as SIE looks to grow its presence there. VR growth in countries such as China have been massive, with Chinese companies investing in Western firms or bringing technology and software over.

It was at E3 last month the SIE finally revealed the launch date for PlayStation VR, along with the announcement that over 50 titles would be made available by the end of the year. PlayStation VR also has some major software back with the likes of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Final Fantasy XV, and Batman: Arkham VR being showcased on the system.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of PlayStation VR, reporting back with any further announcements.
