With the annual Vision Summit 2016, featuring conferences aimed at industry professionals in the virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) industries, the keynote addresses have now kicked off the event, with some of best known names in the business. During his keynote speech Dr. Richard Marks, Director of the PlayStation Magic Lab, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), has remarked how PlayStation 4 owners are already set for virtual reality (VR).

Marks said in his address: “All PS4 owners are ready for VR”, openly saying that apart from purchasing the PlayStation VR headset they won’t need to spend any more on hardware. With millions of PS4 owners already out there that might give SCE a major advantage over rivals, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive which require beefy PC’s to run the head-mounted displays (HMDs). The PlayStation VR headsets popularity will also rest on its price, there’s been plenty of rumours circulating on this but as of yet nothing official has been announced.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the news from the Vision Summit, reporting back any further announcements.
