Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) had one of the biggest stands dedicated to virtual reality (VR) at the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California. Filled with PlayStation VR demo booths there were numerous videogames on display, one of them being Enhance Games’ Rez Infinite. The psychedelic on-rails shooter first got announced at the PlayStation Experience event in December 2015, and now the studio has announced that Rez Infinite will be a PlayStation VR launch title.

Enhance Studios made the announcement via its Twitter account, saying: “Now that the E3 dust has settled, we’re excited to confirm Rez Infinite will be launching on Oct. 13, 2016 for PS4 and PSVR. See you then!”

Replying to comments on the reveal the studio also confirmed the title would be a digital only release, and that the launch will be simultaneous worldwide just like the head-mounted display (HMD). The base model of the PlayStation VR retails for £349 GBP / $399 USD, with certain retailers offering different bundles including PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controllers for a higher price depending on the region.

No price details have been announced but Enhance Studio’s CEO Tetsuya Mizuguchi previously mentioned on PlayStation.Blog that: “with today’s more flexible game pricing at retail and online, at a price that we can all feel good about.”

During E3 Shawn Layden Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studio, hosted the company’s press conference and said that over 50 titles would be available for the HMD between launch and the end of the year, and now we can add another to the list.

Rez Infinite is the long awaited sequel to cult classic Rez, which launched way back in 2001. With a visceral mix of lights, neon colours, sound and music, Rez had players shooting objects which synced with the audio.

As further details are released for Rez Infinite, VRFocus will bring you the details prior to launch.
