Strategic videogames in virtual reality (VR) prove to optimise the immersive experience of videogames, especially those that require a fair amount of planning from different points of view. Quar: Battle for Gate 18, a turn-based strategic VR videogame, does just that and has now been confirmed for the launch of the HTC Vive on Tuesday.

There are more than a dozen missions with a god’s eye view, enhanced by the use of VR, where the player leads their ‘Quar’ – “ant-eaters with guns and armored vehicles” – to victory in a land that has been burdened by war for the past 700 years. Players will have to conquer other Quar nations by commanding cavalry, loading up tractors and rhyflyers with artillery, and carefully planning out the next step without leaving a weak spot.

The title will use motion controllers and will utilise both static and room-scale capabilities of the Vive. More information on the videogame’s price will come as it is launched alongside the Vive on 5th April and will be available on Steam.
