More good news for Samsung Gear VR owners as today sees the release of new content for the mobile head-mounted display (HMD). Available to download from the Oculus store is Pulsar Arena an arcade shooter from developer Justin Moravetz and published by ZeroTransform, the team behind previous titles Proton Pulse and Vanguard V.

Pulse Arena is a rhythm-based arena shooter where two players battle it out in an hourglass. Using the Gear VR’s head-tracking players destroy Polyblock’s by looking at it on the beat, which will target and destroy it. When shot a Polyblock will then move across the arena to your opponents side. While shooting the blocks players are standing on a floor split into four rings that are keeping them safe from the Pulsar star below. The blocks degrade your opponents floor, with the aim being to send as many of them over destroy the floor and send your rival hurtling into the star.

Gameplay is spiced up by utilising combos on special effect Polyblocks to get electric and bomb balls to help further beat the other player. Pulsar Arena doesn’t require an external gamepad to play and is rated ‘Comfortable for Some’. It can be downloaded now for $2.99 USD.

VRFocus will continue to bring you all the latest Gear VR releases as they’re announced.
