Is this the 90s all over again? Think back – if you can – and try to remember two of the biggest iconic popular animations that shaped the generation. If you thought about The Simpsons and Pokémon, then give yourself a nostalgic pat on the back. In the light of the soaring popularity of Pokémon GO, The Simpsons gave a little nod towards it in its latest episode preview.

“Mankey, Diglett, Grimer…” Homer is pictured sitting in the zoo catching all of the Pokémon it seems – unrealistically so if we may add – and behaving like the famously irresponsible father he always has been along with the pretty tongue in cheek reference to the recent tragedies of the two incidents of children being dragged away by caged animals.

While all of this is going on, both Bart and Lisa are begging for Homer’s attention, trying to alert him of all the things he is missing out on in the real world, such as the birth of a baby giraffe, as well as the more silly acts, like Bart doing a hand stand by the Lion’s den.

This may come across as a pretty negative reference, but if you are familiar with the humour in The Simpsons, it does serve as a respectable highlight to its incredible popularity, as it is clearly stated: “The Simpsons continues to strike a chord with viewers for irreverently poking fun at anything and everything.”

The video has already gained over 3 million views, and it has only been out for four days, and there is no doubt that the popularity of the video can be owed to the crazed fascination of the AR mobile videogame. The video can be viewed below.
