Earlier in the month Oculus VR made one of its first big videogame announcements. During the 2015 edition of The Game Awards company co-founder Palmer Luckey took to the stage to announce Rock Band VR, a new addition to Harmonix’s popular music franchise that utilises the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). You might think that this was the only new videogame the company would be announcing this December, but you’d be wrong. Oculus Studios has teased that it will be announcing another brand new VR videogame today.
Head of Worldwide Studios Jason Rubin revealed as much over on Twitter late in the evening yesterday. “Looking forward to another big @Oculus Studios exclusive partnership and game announcement tomorrow!” the Naughty Dog founder said. Rubin didn’t offer any other hints as to what the title could be, nor who it was working with on it. That said, Luckey himself replied to the tweet noting that the title featured “Some of the best graphics I have seen in any VR game!” Again, Luckey didn’t give any other clues as to what will be unveiled.
Oculus Studios has been working with a ride range of developers for well over the past year to create a compelling line-up for the Oculus Rift, which launches in the first three months of next year. A specific date and price for the kit are yet to be announced. The company is even teaming up with EVE: Valkyrie developer CCP Games to offer free copies of the title to all who pre-order the Oculus rift itself once the option becomes available. Other Oculus Studios partners include Insomniac Games with Edge of Nowhere, Gunfire Games with Chronos, and Sanzaru Games with VR Sports Challenge.
