Christmas is over for another year and we’re closing in on 2016 which will be, without question, the year for Virtual Reality (VR). Some of you might’ve received yesterday a VR-based present, perhaps a Samsung Gear VR which as you know was created in partnership with Oculus.

It’s that smartphone-based head mounted display (HMD) that we’re focusing on today as we round off the mornings for the rest of the year  with more Developer Session footage from Oculus Connect 2, as recorded by Oculus themselves.

Presented by Chris Pruett, one of Oculus’s Developer Relations Engineers in this session you’ll learn just what you need to consider in order to get the very best out of the Gear VR system.

‘Flawless mobile VR demands careful coding and significant optimization. Come learn what it takes to build great experiences for Oculus Mobile. You’ll learn how to maximize the performance of Unity apps on Gear VR and how to master development activities such as mesh design, scene organization and rendering. You’ll learn tips and tricks (and maybe even a few vulgar hacks) that will help Gear VR apps run at maximum speed.’

VRFocus will continue to bring you virtual reality (VR) related news, features and videos throughout the week. If you’re interested in comparing and contrasting with the original Oculus Connect sessions from 2014 you can watch them all on our VRFocus YouTube channel.
