Today has seen a slew of titles launched for Samsung’s Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). New videogames like Cityscape Repairman have arrived as well as new concepts THE BOX and Archer E. Bowman. And it doesn’t stop there, now Niconico VR a social video networking service has arrived for the headset, although this service is region specific to Japan.

Developed by DWANGO Co., Ltd, Niconico VR mixes social networking, video streaming and live streaming all together in VR for the mobile headset. Members of the Niconico VR community will be able to post comments on live or uploaded videos and share them with their friends all in real time as they watch.

As shown in the screenshot the service already seems to feature a few videos, although DWANGO Co., Ltd hasn’t stated how many are currently on there. Niconico VR can currently be downloaded for free, for those in Japan interested in the app.

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest Gear VR releases, reporting back with the latest launch announcements.
