Valve’s PC videogame platform Steam is the go to place for most gamers to buy the latest content from studios. Those using Steam will have built up a sizeable collection depending on their time using the service, but with the advent of virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) those titles won’t support the new technology. Now MyDream Interactive is launching a service that will bridge the gap between the two.

Called MyDream Swift, the software converts standard DX9 and DX11 videogames on Steam into VR. Primarily designed for first-person shooters (FPS), MyDream Swift will allow these videogames to work on headsets like Oculus Rift. For none FPS titles the software goes into a VR cinema mode so players can enjoy their Steam library on a big cinema style screen.

MyDream will be demoing the software at VRDC this week on 14 – 15th March, prior to it going on public sale on 28th March, the same day as the Oculus Rift launch. Today sees MyDream Swift launch pre-orders costing $29.99 USD, and as an included bonus consumers will get the videogame MyDream VR valued at $19.99 USD for free.

With the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 starting in earnest today further information on MyDream Swift may surface, and VRFocus will be there to bring you the latest details.
